As a young woman I understand the challenges associated with hair removal, tight jeans and hormonal fluctuations. Hyperpigmentation has been one of my most excruciating skincare woes. The temptation to seek out skin lightening and bleaching tools to remove the scars is constant. As proud as I am of my melanin, it's over production occurs in response to skin trauma, and the simplest injuries can leave long lasting scars.

While bleaching or lightening the skin is one solution, we often don't get to the root of the problem. Hyperpigmentation is our skins response to trauma. Whether it's inflamed hair follicles, picking and prodding or sun damage, there needs to be a multi-pronged solution to heal and maintain results long term.

Sugar Plum Scrubs offers one of three solutions with our body scrubs!

  1. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells: When you exfoliate your skin, you remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Removing these dead cells can help reveal the healthier, brighter skin underneath and can also help reduce the appearance of dark spots.

  2. Exfoliating can help unclog pores: Clogged pores can lead to the development of dark spots, so exfoliating can help unclog pores and prevent the formation of new dark spots.

  3. Exfoliating can improve skin tone and texture: By removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores, exfoliating can help improve the overall tone and texture of the skin, which can help reduce the appearance of dark spots.

It's important to note that exfoliating can be harsh on the skin and may not be suitable for all skin types. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to dark spots, it's important to be gentle when exfoliating.

Sugar Plum Scrubs are gentle exfoliating sugar scrubs that melt upon contact with warm water.  If you're trying to figure out whether our body scrubs are suitable for your skin type, feel free to check out our sampler bundle risk free!

It's also always a good idea to speak with a dermatologist or skin care professional to determine the best exfoliation routine for your specific needs.
