To keep this short and sweet, we only use ingredients that are safe to eat, easy to read and cruelty free.
The chemicals below will never be in Sugar Plum Scrubs products.
Animals and Animal By-Products
There is no bone-char in the refining of our sugars. There are no monkey’s used in the collection of our coconuts and no animals are used to test our products. All of our products are vegan and cruelty free.
Synthetic antioxidants used to extend shelf life. Possible carcinogens and hormone disruptors and may cause liver damage.
Linked to allergies, skin toxicity, hormone disruption, and inhibited fetal brain development.
Used as a preservative. It’s a known carcinogen also linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, and developmental toxicity.
A skin-lightening chemical that inhibits the production of melanin and is linked to cancer, organ toxicity, and skin irritation.
Chemical preservatives. Common irritants, sensitizers, and causes of contact skin allergies.
Sunscreen agent and ultraviolet light absorber linked to irritation, sensitization and allergies, and possible hormone disruption.
A class of preservatives commonly used to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. Parabens are endocrine disruptors, which can alter important hormone mechanisms in our bodies.
A class of chemicals used to make products more pliable or make fragrances stick to skin. Phthalates are endocrine system disruptors and can cause birth defects.
PEGs are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with carcinogens.
Retinyl palmitate is an ingredient composed of palmitic acid and retinol (Vitamin A). Retinyl palmitate, when applied to the skin, may result in adverse health consequences like lesions and photo sensitization.
SLS and SLES are surfactants that can cause skin irritation or trigger allergies. SLES is often contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, a byproduct of a petrochemical process called ethoxylation, which is used to process other chemicals in order to make them less harsh.
